Understanding Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise mainly, but not only*, focused on body balance through core strength, flexibility, and awareness of movements. *It is also intelligent fitness for your soul.

The founder, Joe Pilates used positions and gravity to train the entire body. Silvester Stalone too 🙂

The Pilates routine is like a dance. It is fluid, efficient and sweaty. It can seem that you are not working out but when you are done, it will feel like you have done something nice to your body, and to your soul. You may actually feel sore the next day and it will feel great 🙂

Pilates is a sophisticated, targeted method using intention

The classical Pilates mat uses both compound and simple movements, and repetitions. The intention of the movement targets particular muscles. Movements and transitions are smooth. They are done with precession.

Pilates will not only flatter your stomach, get you long lean muscles, but also a straighten the posture. You will feel taller and gain more confidence. Only 3 times a week is enough.

Pilates doesn’t benefit just your body but also your mind and soul.

The mind is in control of the movement. That means that in order to do a smooth, precise, controlled movement, you need to focus.

You need to be present! You do the movement by using your mind. That is why Pilates can greatly benefit you if your life is hectic, or stressful. Pilates can make you forget all your struggles. When you add it to your life, your life will slow down because your mind will relax more. It can also help you to get clear on what you need to do in life by calming your mind.
